Manjhi stars for Our Lady of Succour

Our Lady of Succour HS, Nagoa-Verna, Mae Dos Pobres HS, Nuvem and Rosary HSS, Navelim registered wins in their respective matches of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup U-17 football tournament, played at artificial turf ground, Fatorda-Margao on Thursday.

In the first match, Our Lady of Succour HS rode on a fine brace by striker Manjhi Vassant to sink St Rock’s HS, Tollekanto, Velim 2-0.

Manjhi proved too good for the rival defence as he displayed deft moves and quick footwork to find the mark in the 20th and 40th minute.

In the second match of the day, Mae Dos Pobres HS also registered an identical 2-0 win over Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial HSS, Majorda with Darren Fernandes and Jonas Colaco being the goal scorers.

The third and last match of the day saw Rosary HSS, Navelim get the better of Mount Mary’s HSS, Chinchinim 3-0. Steward D’Mello, Asfin Pinto and Antush Moniz scored a goal each to help Rosary HSS move into the next round.
