Tutor beats up kids, cops probing case

KANPUR: A private tutor was accused of mercilessly beating two students for allegedly not reciting a poem, in Gwaltoli area on Thursday.

As per the complaint by the children's father Mahesh Gupta, a resident of Gwaltoli area of the city, his two sons - Aman (6) and Naman (8), students of class II and Class IV, respectively, went to attend classes at the house of Mithilesh, a private tutor in the area. "The two were allegedly severely beaten up by their tutor with a stick for failing to recite a poem," said a police officer.

The incident came to light when they went home crying. Their father, after noticing wounds on the back of the children, approached Gwaltoli police and filed a complaint on Thursday. Then he took the children to a nearby hospital for medical aid. "We have come across the complaint wherein parents of the boys have accused a private tutor of being physically ill-treating them," said SSP Akhilesh Kumar.

"Further investigations are underway in this regard. Both the boys have been sent for medical aid. If the charges are found to be true, the teacher will be booked under various sections of IPC including a Justice Juvenile Act," added SSP.
