Police nab youth for defaming Bhopal-based girl

Cyber crime cell has nabbed a 23-year-old Raisen based youth on the charge of defaming Bhopal based girl by using her personal photographs and details to create fake facebook profile.

The accused identified as Sanjay Sarathe created a fake facebook profile of the girl and shared her mobile number and tagged her as call girl.

Police said that the accused was nabbed after a complaint of fake profile in the name of the victim was lodged with the police.

The victim lodged a complaint with the cyber crime cell regarding the accused who created fake profile using her photograph. During the investigation the police found that the fake profile was operated from Rajeev Nagar and was nabbed later.

Police said that to track the accused Facebook legal department California USA was contacted which helped in narrowing down to the accused.

The accused confessed that he was friend with the victim over facebook but later the victim stopped interacting with her and stopped all kinds of communications and irked with this he created fake facebook profile of the victim using her photographs and shared her mobile and later posted the victim as call girl over facebook.

The accused used to update the fake profile regularly and when the victim came to know she lodged a complaint with the cyber cell.

After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 66 C and 66 D of the IT Act. The accused work as barber and for the past three years he was staying at Rajeev Nagar.
