The Ganjam District Muslim Association on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Collector and the Sub-Collector demanding an alternative land for prayers at their festivals like Eid and others.

The association mentioned that earlier the people of the Muslim community of the city were doing their prayers at the Idka ground near the Brahmapur Stadium.

But as the district administration had decided to expand the Brahmapur Stadium, they are facing problems and have to do their prayers at seven different places in the city.

The members also said that the administration had assured them to provide a land for their doing their prayers in the city and also had asked the association to find a suitable place for the same.

After locating a land the association in the letter has requested to allot one acre of land from five acres in Gajapati Plaza or in Niladri Vihar or else the administration should provide ground before August as they are going to celebrate their festival, i.e, Eid in second week of August.

Among others, association members Syed Mumtaz, T Azad Mohammad, Rahim Khan, Fizul Khan, AK Jilan, SA Khallil, Md Samir, Abdul Satar and Saik Iqbal were present.
