Man who shot two teens in West Pennant Hills found dead

The man who shot and killed two teenagers in Sydney's north-west has been found dead, police say.

A massive manhunt was sparked after the bodies of the teens were found in a home on Hull Road, West Pennant Hills, on Thursday evening.

The man, who police believe was the killer was found dead a few kilometres from the Hull Road house, in a home in Normanhurst on Friday morning.

Police had earlier been searching for the father of the children. They had said a man believed to be aged in his 50s was a person of interest.

Police are expected to face the media at 10am.

As forensic examinations of the home continued on Friday morning, it is understood the teens' bodies were removed just before 6am.

Detectives are now on scene on the busy Hull Road, a block of which remains a crime scene.

Calling the deaths "a tragedy", a neighbour said the children were shot dead within a minute's walk of her home.

"May you rot in hell, buddy," she said.

Emergency services arrived at the Hull Road address just after 5pm on Thursday to find a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy dead in their bedrooms.

Seven ambulances and a helicopter attended, but there was nothing the first responders could do for the children.

The teenagers' mother, 36, arrived after police.

She was treated at the scene for severe shock and was released into the care of friends.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden Brett McFadden said at a press conference on Thursday night the shooting was believed to have been targeted.

"We consider this to be very much a targeted incident and we do believe that it may well be domestic violence-related," he said.

Police cordoned off the whole of Hull Road on Thursday night and were knocking on the doors of neighbours as a helicopter buzzed overhead.
