Videos of girls in UP school toilet go viral, four arrested

GORAKHPUR: Maharajganj police arrested the school principal-cum-owner, her brother and two sacked teachers on Thursday after three videos of girl students in the schools toilet went viral on social media. A case was registered against the four accused under Section 66 and 67 IT Act and Pocso Act with the Kotwali police station.

On Thuesday morning, a large number of parents reached Everest Public School under Kotwali police station in Maharajganj and staged a protest after videos of girls in school toilet started circulating on social media.

“On Thursday morning, students and their parents staged a protest. The CBSE board affiliated school is till class 10. Police arrested school principal, her brother and two teachers who had been fired earlier. The principal is also the owner of the school,” said Maharajganj ASP, Ashutosh Shukla.

The school principal said that she had no information about the camera.

‘Camera put up mon ths ago’

“During initial investigation it was found that principal Ankho Puro’s brother Aifjo had installed the camera in girls’ toilet some five-six months ago. Two teachers Ashwani Gupta and Vijay Bahadur saw it and they posted the video on social media in March. The school had sacked both teachers then but they posted the videos again,” ASP Shukla added.

School principal Ankho Puro said, “I am the principal for the past 20 years and have a good reputation. I don’t know anything about any hidden camera. The videos could be fake. The school management will cooperate fully and help police in identifying the culprits.”
