NEW DELHI: This might be your last chance to grab a seat in some of the top courses at DU's prominent colleges as courses open up in the fourth cutoff list after withdrawals. While the dip for most courses in these colleges has been around 0.25% points, some colleges have opened courses at the same cutoffs.

Kirori Mal College (KMC) has opened its BCom (H) and BCom courses, but economics is closed. At Aryabhatta College, English and psychology are available while Ramjas has opened BCom (H).

BA programme, which has been the most popular course this year, is still up for grabs at popular colleges like KMC and Sri Venkateswara, though the dip in the cutoffs is marginal. Gargi, Ramjas and Kamla Nehru colleges have also re-opened the course. Daulat Ram College (DRC) has slashed the cutoff for BA programme by 11% points, bringing it down to 80%.

Science subjects are also back in circulation at some colleges, with counselling for engineering and medical institutes in progress. "We have had most withdrawals because of intra-DU migration. Students are also withdrawing following engineering and medical counselling," said a member of the admission committee at KMC.

Off-campus colleges like Sri Aurobindo (morning) are planning to keep several courses open, considering last-minute withdrawals. "We have filled up most seats, but we want to keep our courses open and take a few extra students so that after withdrawals we don't have a problem," said Vipin Agarwal, its principal.

Colleges like Daulat Ram have opened their BCom (P) and economics courses after closing them down in the third list. IP College for Women and Kamla Nehru College have also re-opened them.

The admissions under the fourth list are set to take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday and the fifth list will be released on next Wednesday.

The real challenge arise after filling up the general-category seats as many unreserved seats stay vacant. In SRCC, while the general seats for both BCom and economics courses were the fastest to go, the seats assigned to persons with disabilities and Kashmiri migrants are the hardest to fill. Though the seats for SC and ST candidates are over in most key courses, subsequent lists will focus on filling up the rest of the reserved seats.

BCom seats still available at NCWEB

The second cut-off list for the Non Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) has seen several college close admission to BA (programme), like Shyama Prasad Mukherji, Hansraj and Miranda House colleges.

However, the cutoffs on the whole has fallen by at least 7% points in the course and by at least 9% points for BCom (programme). Admissions to all colleges are still open under the commerce program.

Cutoffs for Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita colleges have dropped from 77% to 68%.
