YAMUNANAGAR: Seven persons were killed in a head-on
collision between a truck and a Xylo car near
Sadhaura in the
Yamunanagar district of
Haryana on Thursday evening. The accident took place when they were returning home after attending a death ceremony in the area. The accident took place on the Sadhaura-Kala Amb Road.
The deceased, including four men and three women, were identified as Krishna (55), Surinder (55), Ramesh (50), Vimla (45), Neelam (35), residents of Rasulpur village, car driver Kala Ram (32), a resident Laharpur village, and one more unidentified person.
Four of them died on the spot while others with serious injuries were rushed to hospitals in Yamunanagar and Mullana for treatment. Three of them later succumbed to their injuries in the hospitals.
As per information provided by the SHO of Sadhaura police station, Krishna Lal of Rasulpur village and seven members of the family had hired the cab to go and attend a death ceremony of a deceased relative. After attending the ceremony, they were returning home when their car had a head-on collision with a truck near a petrol pump on the Sadhaura-Kala Amb Road in the evening time. The truck driver managed to escape from the spot.
The SHO said the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the family members after post-mortem. The cremation of the deceased took place at their respective villages with the presence of police. A case under various sections of IPC has been registered against the truck driver and his truck has been taken into custody. He added the truck driver would be taken into custody after an investigation.
