Vadodara: MS University’s Faculty of Science has admitted 1,250 students as the first round of admissions for first year Bachelors of Science (BSc) came to an end on Saturday.
The faculty which had for the first time prepared a merit list before beginning the on the spot admission process on July 2 admitted 950 students on regular seats, 240 students in higher payment category seats at the faculty and 60 admissions were granted in higher payment category at Padra college by Friday evening.

“In the first round, we have called candidates who have scored 48 % and above. Under the higher payment category, students who have scored 52% and above in science theory subjects have been admitted so far,” said dean professor A C Sharma.

“We will be conducting the second round of admissions between July 16 and July 19 after which we will be distributing forms to students for reshuffling on July 20 and July 21 so that they can chose subjects of their choice if there are seats available in subjects they want to chose,” he said. After reshuffling, the faculty will conduct the third round of admissions on July 26 and July 27.

Like in the past, chemistry has remained the favourite subject for students. While the highest cut-off in open category for biology students from Vadodara is 76% that for mathematics students is 73.3%. Yet, there are a couple of seats available in reserved category.

Interestingly, the highest cut off percentage is in subjects of maths and physics when it comes to students from districts other than Vadodara and those students applying from outside the state.

The cut-off percentage in open category for students from districts other than Vadodara has touched 80.8% in maths while that of students from outside Gujarat is 87%.

Similarly, in physics, the cut-off percentage is 80 amongst students applying from outside Vadodara while that from outside Gujarat, it is 82 %. Not a single candidate from ST category from outside Gujarat has taken admission at the faculty.
