Cement truck hanging off Tamborine Mountain Road forces road closure

A cement truck is partly hanging off the edge of Tamborine Mountain Road on the Gold Coast, forcing police to close the road for several hours on Friday morning for recovery.

The truck was perched on the edge of a steep drop with a potential risk of falling due to wet conditions, a police spokeswoman said.

The driver and his passenger escaped, with one patient taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital by paramedics in a stable condition.

Police were on scene directing traffic and requested a large tow truck, with the road to be closed from 9am to 1pm.

The truck was stuck about halfway up the mountain at the intersection of Brahman Road and Tamborine Mountain Road.

Police said alternative access could be found through Canungra or Oxenford via Henri Robert Drive.
