‘Telugu Desam Party has the popular support’

Deputy Home Minister N. Chinarajappa on Thursday brushed aside the BJP leaders’ allegations of failure of law and order (L&O).

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Mr. Chinarajappa said there was no scope and necessity for imposing President’s Rule. There was a “tremendous pressure” on the State government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu after the TDP had parted ways with the BJP and quit the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The BJP joined hands with the YSR Congress and resorted to conspiracy politics. But the TDP had the popular support. It would not suffer due to the hurdles being created and people would teach them a befitting lesson, he said.

Referring to the appointment of the DGP, the Home Minister said the State government would follow the rules. There was a need for recruiting more home guards and the government would take necessary steps.

Earlier, he reviewed the law and order with DGP RP Thakur and other officials. He enquired about the reasons for the ill health of prisoners in jails in the Rayalaseema region. He also reviewed the security of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Principal Secretary (Home) Anuradha, IG (Law and Order) Harish Kumar, Intelligence Chief A.B. Venkateswara Rao and others were present.
