BJP set to go in poll mode in UP by September 1

VARANASI: BJP president Amit Shah has asked the regional units of the party to appoint in charge of each parliamentary constituency and also constitute assembly area-wise poll management committees by July 30.

The BJP chief has further directed the state unit to complete the process of approving appointments in regional units and assembly area committees by August end to ensure that the party goes in election mode from September 1.

Shah held a series of meetings with Kashi, Awadh and Goraksh regional unit members at Jnana Pravah in Samneghat area till Wednesday midnight in which chief minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey were present along with a band of UP ministers and office-bearers of BJP and its frontal organisations.

Talking to TOI on Thursday, BJP state general secretary Salil Vishnoi said, "The party president has asked the presidents of all regional units to appoint in charges in each Lok Sabha seat and form assembly area-wise poll management committees. All the frontal organisations and sister concerns of the party have also been asked to follow the same pattern for appointing in charges in each LS seat and assembly area-wise management committees. The regional units have been given time to complete these exercises till July 30."

The regional units will forward their lists to the state unit that will finalise it by August end as the party is all set to go in parliamentary election mode from September 1, he added.

Shah had held a meeting with the presidents of Kashi, Awadh and Goraksh units in Mirzapur on Wednesday morning.
