AHMEDABAD: Pain, agony and rebel was apparent in a complaint lodged by a 14-year-old with Naranpura police on Thursday against her stepmother Mira Chandel (36). The girl, a Class 10 student, has mentioned in the
FIR that her stepmom forces her, her 10-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother to do household work, while her 16-year-old daughter does not contribute anything.
The complainant alleged that even her stepmother’s father Ratanlal Nagora ill treats them and instigates his daughter to torture them mentally and physically. He even encourages her to lock them up in case they protest against her orders.
The FIR said that their mother Nirma had left them about three to four years back to live with her parents. Their father, Umed Chandel, had then married Mira who had brought her 16-year-old girl along.
“Soon after the marriage, the couple started quarrelling. Mira even stabbed him once with a pair of scissors which resulted in him leaving the house. The stepmother has also filed cases against him,” said a police source.
Police said the
Child Rights Commission had directed cops to register an FIR after the girl approached them with an application.
Senior police officials said that they have summoned Mira and Ratanlal for questioning. “We will take action against the accused and arrest them soon,” added a police official.
