In the wake of a statewide bandh against amendment in land acquisition act 2013, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today urged political parties, especially those in Opposition to keep themselves away from negative politics that hinders the development prospects of the State. Das said that only positive politics can bring the State to new heights and that should be remembered by each party.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday, the CM said that every political party has different way to look at things but they should not have an ideology against development of the State. “We have to do a lot of work. We need land to make bypass roads, rail lines, electricity grids, colleges, schools, hospitals and many things that are needed in the State. Even today raiyyats are giving their land but earlier they had to wait for 2-2.5 years to get compensation money. Now, after simplification of rules, they will get their money in eight months,” he said.

“We have not changed the law. We have just simplified it and this simplification is not going to harm anyone. The Opposition should stop spreading rumours. They are misguiding people in the name of tribal sentiments. They should think about the State and its development rather than playing cheap politics,” he added.

Das said that the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Jharkhand Amendment) Act – 2017 has come into force after gazette notification by the government on June 29 and it will pave way for development projects in the State.

The CM said that the people of the State rejected the bandh call by Opposition parties today as people are with development. The masses are with development they are not anti-development. In 2019 people will teach a lesson to anti-development forces, he added.

Das, on behalf of the people of State, also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for taking a historic Cabinet decision of increasing Minimum Support Price of paddy and other agricultural produce in the Kharif season. He said that after years such a good step has been taken in the interest of farmers and it will benefit over 20 lakh farmers of Jharkhand. The CM said that the significant MSP hike of paddy, corn, arhar, moong, peanuts, raagi and other produce will benefit the farmers in a big way.

He said that the State is lagging behind in irrigation scenario and it has requested the Niti Ayog for special grants to start new projects. Additionally, the government is working on providing irrigation facilities in each village of the State with several new and innovative techniques, he added.
