The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court today directed the police authorities to file an affidavit as regards their action in the incidents of vandalism at Lucknow University campus on July 4.

Taking sue moto cognisance of the incidents on the basis of media reports, a division bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Rajesh Singh had summoned the DGP, District Police Chief, Vice Chancellor of the University and other officials.

The court pulled up the police for not responding promptly to the complaint of the university authorities.

The matter will be next heard on July 16.

According to reports twenty-five expelled students of the university had assaulted the VC and teachers on July 4. The court has also asked the university authorities to give suggestions as to what should be done to control hooliganism on the campus.
