PSPCL launches drive to check theft of electricity in Punjab

Punjab State  Power  Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched a massive drive to check the menace of theft of Electricity in the state achieving a great success, CMD,PSPCL Baldev Singh Sran, said on Thursday.

In a statement, Sran said that  during the months of April & May, this year the enforcement organization of PSPCL worked  with great  determination to curb theft of electricity & leakage of revenue. He said that  in April, the organization has detected a major theft case, in which Rs. 1.02 crore has been charged to a cold store at Jalandhar. Besides this PSPCL detected 815 theft cases & 6926 other violations in May. An amount of Rs. 815.56 lacs has been assessed.

The CMD said that the checking has been carried out to ensure the implementation of commercial instructions to provide uninterrupted power supply and correct billing of electricity.  Sran has appealed to all the consumers to inform about theft of electricity.
