Nagpur civic body attaches 11 open plots to recover property tax dues NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s property tax department on Wednesday attached 11 open plots under Dharampeth zone to recover tax dues of over Rs8.31 lakh.

Assistant municipal commissioner Mahesh Morone said of the 11 open plots attached, seven are in Dabha and owned by Gruha Nirman Sanstha. The property owners have defaulted property tax to the tune of over Rs 3.75 lakh.

Four open lands were attached in Mahadev Gruha Nirman Sahkari Sanstha in Hazaripahad for defaulting tax of over Rs5.56 lakh.

The NMC is focusing on improving its revenue from property tax as the standing committee chairman Virendra Kukreja has set a target of Rs509.51 crore in his budget for 2018-2019.

Last year, the civic body had recovered only Rs196.67 crore against the target of Rs364 crore.
