India will take on England in the 2nd Twenty20 match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff today. The match will begin at 10 PM.An emphatic win in the opening game of the T20 International series against England on Monday has set the tone for the rest of India’s long-awaited tour. India would be keen to capitalise on this. Another win would seal the three-match series for Virat Kohli and his team.

In fact, India stand on the cusp of a sixth successive T20 series win, stretching back to their 2-1 win over New Zealand at home in November 2017. In all, India have been unbeaten in bilateral T20 series since September last year.

In terms of ICC rankings, a 2-0 series lead will allow India to close the gap with second-placed Australia, while a 3-0 whitewash will help them jump to second behind top-ranked Pakistan.

For England, another loss today will see them drop down to rank seven below New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies, respectively.

Meanwhile, BCCI today named Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injured death-over specialist Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad. Bumrah underwent a surgery in Leeds yesterday.
