Singer Chris Brown arrested for felony battery after Florida concert

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Singer Chris Brown was arrested Thursday after his concert at Coral Sky Amphitheatre on a warrant out of Tampa for felony battery, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Brown, 29, was booked into the Palm Beach County jail on the out-of-county warrant at 11 p.m. and released that night on a $2,000 cash bond.

The warrant, which a Hillsborough County judge signed in August, was for a felony battery charge stemming from an April 2017 incident at a Tampa club in which Brown allegedly punched club photographer Bennie Vines.

The warrant was a “Florida pick-up only,” meaning only Florida authorities could arrest Brown.

Media reports indicate the West Palm Beach show was Brown’s first stop in Florida on the Heartbreak on a Full Moon Tour.

Sheriff’s authorities said they learned of the warrant — a spokeswoman did not specify how or when — and worked with his team to arrange the arrest after the show.

Brown and his team cooperated with authorities, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera.

Brown has had several run-ins with the law, most notably in 2009 when he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to the charge and a judge ordered he spend five years on probation, do community service and go through domestic violence counseling, media reported.

Brown is scheduled to play a show Friday night in Tampa at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

He posted on Instagram early Friday that he has a “show tomorrow,” seemingly a reference to the Tampa show.
