The Vigilance police on Thursday again conducted a raid at the residence of former Managing Director of Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC) Vinod Kumar, an IAS officer, who is now an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Higher Education Department .

A five-member team of the Vigilance directorate led by DSP Nirmal Mohanty carried out the raid at Kumar’s Government quarters located in the Nayapalli VIP area.

However, the Vigilance team had to return disappointed as the tainted IAS officer was not present at his residence. The sleuths reportedly seized some incriminating documents from Kumar’s residence.

“As like yesterday, today also we conducted a raid on Kumar’s residence. A non-bailable warrant (NBW) has been issued against him by a court. However, he was not there in his residence. We would declare him an absconder if we fail to trace him and would confiscate his properties,” Mohanty said.  Action would also be taken against the four others whose whereabouts are still unknown, the DSP added.

On Monday, Kumar and five others were convicted by a Special Vigilance Court here in connection with a scam in the ORHDC to the tune of Rs 55 lakh.

The five others who were convicted by the court are Sanjay Mohanty, Purna Chandra Das, Pradip Kumar Rout, Chitta Ranjan Mohanty and Ashish Kumar Nayak.
