Soon Japanese investment will jump 3 fold in Gujarat: Rupani

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani claimed that Japanese investment in the State likely to increase three times in next couple of years from US $1 billion to US $3 billion.

Talking at an inauguration of Business Support Centre (BSC) of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Ahmadabad on Thursday Rupani said that Gujarat emerged as preferred destination for Japanese investments, especially a hybrid industrial park would play a key role in attracting investments in the State.

During the inaugural function Ten Japanese Companies signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat government. Hirokuki Ishige, chairman of JETRO said that Japanese companies were contributing in the Make in India mission and Gujarat had become second home for most of the Japanese companies. Total investment in India by Japanese companies through JETRO has reached Rs 3840 crore, out of which major chunk of investment came to Gujarat.

Gujarat CM gave assurance to Japanese firms all sorts of support saying that the state government has already implemented single-window clearance, ease of doing business and government support for infrastructure development. The state government was committed to support development of hybrid industrial park in Gujarat, he said adding that competent authorities have dentified land for Indo-Japan Industrial Township and hopefully over $3 billion worth of investments by Japanese companies would come to state by 2020.

Gujarat's contribution in National GDP is 8%, 18% in the country's total industrial production and 20 % in exports, he said adding that Japanese companies can look for a geographical advantage of 1,600-km State's coastal line to explore global business.
