A young couple were today found dead with injuries on their head and neck inside their residence at Vellamunda in the district, police said.
The victims have been identified as Ummar (28) and his wife Fathima (22), they said.
The couple got married only a few months ago.
Police said Ummar's mother found the bodies lying in a pool of blood when she came to see him in the morning.
The front door of the house was locked but she gained entry through the back door which was open, they said.
Police suspect that they were killed during a robbery attempt.
