HYDERABAD: Stating that a comprehensive plan was being prepared to boost the economies of the aviation sector, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu said that deliverables in the sector would be increased by 2035.
“Every person is either a passenger or an aspiring passenger. Our current mission is to see people take up travelling by air at an accessible and affordable cost while offering a comfortable flight. We are trying to combine the three elements into one,” Prabhu said at the ceremony in the city.
He added,“For that purpose, several things have to be set right and the first thing I did after taking up the ministry portfolio was to prepare a comprehensive plan for achieving more deliverables by 2035. Currently, the goal would be achieved by tapping cargo policy which will aim at using unused aviation infrastructure. He was in the city to lay foundation stone for Civil Aviation Research Organisation (CARO) that is being set up by the airports authority of India (AAI) at an estimated cost of `250 crore.
Speaking about CARO, the minister said the construction would be completed in 18 months. Meanwhile, senior officials of AAI and CARO signed MoUs with educational institutions and industry players such as Honeywell Technology Solutions, Boeing, IIT-Madras, and Indian Statistical Institute.
AAI has already joined hands with Indian Institute of Technology-Madras to take up collaborative research on Air Navigation Systems. This would support AAI in addressing aviation infrastructure and air traffic management challenges. IIT-Madras will provide transfer of knowledge /skill in the areas of mathematical/analytical/artificial intelligence/data mining solutions.
Earlier, addressing a public meeting held at Parkal in Warangal rural district, Prabhu accused TRS government of letting down the people of Telangana. “People hoped that after the formation of Telanagana there would be change in their lives. But unfortunately the TRS did nothing to make their lives happier,”he stated.
