|

With SNAP 2018 exam just a few months down the line, all management aspirants must gear up and accelerate their preparation. As already known, the 2017 version of the test was lengthy and strenuous. Also, it was the first time when SNAP moved to online desktop based exam.

Candidates preparing for SNAP 2018 must have fair knowledge regarding details of the previous year’s exam including information about the topics that had high weightage, those which posed tricky questions and others such. And, for your assistance, a precise analysis of SNAP 2017 has been mentioned below alongside expectations from SNAP for the coming year.

SNAP 2018: What to expect?

An associated myth with the difficultylevel of SNAP 2017 was busted when the exam posed quite tricky and difficult questions the previous year leaving the test takers a bit stunned. Lengthy and tricky questions became a painstaking experience for many.

But is the same going to happen in 2018 too? Well, no one can answer that. But there are some patterns which can still be predicted. We have identified some pointers that can help you to understand what can be expected of the exam. These will also help you to shape your preparation in a proper manner. Take a look at the changes or trends you can expect in SNAP 2018.

RCs will continue their supremacy

Reading Comprehension is one topic that has always grown in importance, and will keep on growing. At least 2 RCs will surely be there in the paper, and you can expect the number to increase too. However, the length of RCs may get shortened to 800-900 words.

Further, some ‘inference based’ questions can be expected instead of specific detail questions. It is quite sure that students who devote their time to solving more and more RCs will get an edge over other students in the General English section.

Arithmetic will become the most rewarding topic

Another trend that is quite visible is that arithmetic and commercial mathematics will become more important topic for Quantitative Aptitude. From past 3-4 years, we have seen management exams shifting their focus from algebra, numbers and modern mathematics to arithmetic and geometry.

Students having a strong clutch over topics like Averages, Percentages, Ratios, Interest, Profit & Loss and Time, Speed and Distance will definitely get the benefit. Around 15 questions can be expected from these topics.

Logic will replace calculation

SNAP 2017 proved to be an easier exam for those who were good with calculation. DI sets were purely based on calculation, and some reasoning questions also required good proficiency of calculation. However, this trend might change this year. Logic Based Data Interpretation might appear in SNAP 2018. This can make the exam less time consuming but will certainly help in maintaining the difficulty level. Topics like missing information in data charts might just get introduced this year.

Business/Economy GK will be the game-changer

Since this is a management exam, news related to the corporate sector will always be helpful. In SNAP 2018, news related to business, economy, finance and corporate sector will be of utmost importance. Students who remember the founders of corporations, CEOs, CXOs, major products, taglines and corporate terms will certainly benefit in the exam. Students will need to keep a close eye on current affairs of at least 1 year.

Another important expectation regarding SNAP 2018 is that marks needed for 99 percentile will increase slightly this year. As SNAP 2017 was probably the toughest SNAP paper of all times, it is more likely that SNAP 2018 will be a little easier this year.

SNAP 2017 Paper Analysis

As mentioned earlier, SNAP 2017 came as a surprise for most of the students. The exam which is generally considered to be of relatively easy to moderate level, was for the first time in past several years way above the moderate level. SNAP 2017 consisted of 150 questions which were to be completed in 120 minutes. The subject-wise analysis is as follows.

General English

General English section of SNAP 2017 was dominated by Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary based questions. Out of the total 40 questions, 25 were from these two topics only. Reading Comprehension had 2 RCs, both around 1000 words and had 6 questions each. With the length on RCs on the higher side, solving these became a little more time consuming. However, RCs were not very tricky and with patience, one could get 9-10 of them correct.

On the other hand, Vocabulary was difficult. Fill in the blanks, antonyms, synonyms all were difficult. Remaining questions were on topics like Jumbled Paragraphs, Idioms, Analogies and Grammar and were of moderate to difficult level.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

Another tricky section, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation had 12-14 questions from Arithmetic and Commercial Mathematics. There were 2 sets of Data Interpretation which were calculation intensive, but were not very tough. Geometry and Series also had 7 to 8 questions which were moderate to difficult. Rest of the section was a blend of medium and tough questions, and was more or less evenly distributed amongst topics like algebra, number system and modern mathematics.

General Awareness

General Awareness section had questions from diverse topics. Also, the questions were based on events from past two years, which certainly increased the toughness. Only those who were following the newspapers religiously from past 18-20 months found this section doable. Further, there were no questions from static GK.

Major topics that covered the section were identifying personalities, business/economy related questions, sports, science, awards and government programs. Business and Economy related questions, in particular were tougher than others. Science based questions and identifying personalities also proved to be a trickier task.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

Analytical and Logical Reasoning section also followed the path of GK section and had questions from diverse topics. Unlike last year, there were very few set based questions and students had to solve standalone questions, which made the section time consuming.

Series based and calculation based questions dominated the section. Verbal Reasoning had 3-4 questions only, which was lesser than expected. All common topics like Blood Relation, Coding Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Distribution, Critical Reasoning, Puzzles, Input-Output, Clocks and Calendars had 1-3 questions each. Some of the questions were really tough in this section.

SNAP 2017 Cut off

Cutoff for two best colleges under SNAP, SIBM Pune and SCMHRD Pune revolves around 97-98 percentile. Last year, a score of 58 led to 98 percentile in SNAP. While a score of around 63 was enough for 99 percentile.

This also reflects how tough the exam was, as generally, a score of around 72-75 leads to a 99th percentile in SNAP. Thus, the candidates can imagine that how tough the exam proved to be for the test takers. Around 42-43% marks were enough to get an interview call from the best college under the test.
