A police officer allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself by his service revolver in Saltora police station in Bankura district, the police said today.
Biswanath Mondal (47), who was a sub-inspector of the police station, shot himself dead in the duty officer's room last night, Superintendent of Police Sukhendu Hira said.
The gun shot was heard by a constable who rushed to the room and found Mondal lying in a pool of blood, he said.
Mondal might have committed suicide as he was facing some family problems, the SP said.
