Deadline broke the news Tuesday that Community actress and Walking Dead superfan Yvette Nicole Brown would be taking over moderating duties for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead's high-profile San Diego Comic-Con panels later this month after usual moderator Chris Hardwick stepped away amid accusations of sexual abuse by his ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra.

Fans were excited because maybe even more than Hardwick, Brown is the face of the fandom. Hardwick hosts the aftershow Talking Dead, but as Comicbook.com points out, Brown has appeared on it 15 times -- more than anyone else who's not a cast member or producer on The Walking Dead. She's always knowledgeable, insightful and enthusiastic. And she does it for the love of the show, not because it's her job.

But maybe it should be her job! With Hardwick's future at AMC uncertain, Brown is the obvious choice to take over as host of Talking Dead should he not return.

Fans seem to be into that idea.

I don't know how legitimate the case against Chris Hardwick is, but in all honesty I would rather see Yvette Nicole Brown replace him either way.

Yvette Nicole Brown should just get all of Chris Hardwick's old jobs. I'm fine with that.

For her part, Brown made it clear that she is not "jockeying" for Hardwick's job and she's just "filling in for a friend."

I will say this once. I am filling in for a friend, which I have done before. I am not jockeying for a job. I have enough of my own. It is my prayer that God's Will is done in the midst of this process & that everyone is okay. My character is known & sound. Nothing has changed.

It's too early to say what will happen to the Talking Dead hosting job. AMC has temporarily pulled Hardwick's talk show Talking with Chris Hardwick, but has not terminated Hardwick's contract and is "assessing the situation" before deciding how to proceed with their relationship with him. Hardwick was also scheduled to moderate Comic-Con's Doctor Who panel; a replacement for that one has not yet been announced.

In a post on the blogging platform Medium last month, Hardwick's ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra accused him of emotionally and sexually abusing her during their relationship, including coercing her into having sex with him. Hardwick denies the allegations.

Fear the Walking Dead doesn't come back until Aug. 12, so AMC has some time to decide who will host Talking Dead when it returns. Maybe they're waiting to see how Brown does at Comic-Con.

According to IMDb, Brown's current TV gigs are voiceover roles so she could probably fit Talking Dead into her schedule if she wants. Here at TV Guide, we hope she and AMC can come to an agreement. She's one of our faves and we're happy to see her any time she's on TV.
