Santhome HSS team won the Suryoday Serenity Cup U-19 inter-school cricket tournament.

CHENNAI: Santhome HSS defeated Nellai Nadar by 189 runs in the final of the Suryoday Serenity Cup U-19 inter-school cricket tournament, played under three-day format, with the second innings restricted to 40 overs.

Brief scores: Santhome HSS 264 in 89.6 ovs & 210/6 in 40 ovs (Aadi Shankar 67, Vimal Kumar 43, J Ajay Chetan 31) bt Nellai Nadar 113 in 62.2 ovs & 172/7 in 40 ovs (Udesh Milan 32, C Saffin 33, S Harish 34). MoM: V. Sanjeev Kumar.

YSCA bag title

Medium pacer S Parthasarathy’s fifer paved the way for YSCA to beat Apollo Tyres by 48 runs in the final of the GR Kuppuswamy Memorial Trophy. Brief scores: YSCA 107 in 25.2 ovs (Yaar Ali 3/10) bt Apollo Tyres 59 in14.5 ovs (G Prabhakaran 3/24, S Parthasarathy 5/29). MoM: S Parthasarathy.

Power CC win

Riding on B Paranthaman’s 5/20, Power CC defeated Sakthi CC by four wickets in a Third Division match of the TNCA-Villupuram DCA league.

Brief scores: III Division: VRSCET B 85 in 22.5 ovs (P Balraj 49 n.o) lost to United CC B 86/0 in 6.4 ovs (D Elangovan 61 n.o). Siga Management A 104  in 14.5 ovs (N Arun Kumar 35, R Vimalchandar 3/27, K Sathish Kumar 3/1) lost SRTCA 106/1 in 11.5 ovs (R Rathinaraj 44 n.o, N Balan 40 n.o). Sakthi CC 97 in 20.5 overs (B Paranthaman 5/ 20, D Narashiman 3/18) lost to Power CC 99/6 in 21.2 ovs (A Vijayaraj 57 n.o, S Selvamani 4/23).

TNCA U-16 tourney

TNCA — City schools U-16 tournament for C Ramaswamy Trophy will be held from the third week of July. Players born on or after September 1, 2002 can participate. Entry forms can be collected from the office of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association on any working day between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm. Forms for the tournament duly filled, should reach the office of the TNCA on or before July 13.

Hockey tourney

Chennai Hockey Association is going to conduct Chennai district level inter-school event from July 20 to 22 and inter-collegiate hockey tournament for boys  from July 26 to 29 at SDAT-MRK Hockey Stadium, Egmore. Entries close on July 15. Contact: 9444111884.

3 TN racers in RFC India

J Sam Raj from Tamil Nadu off-roaders, Sibi Paul from Arka Motor Sport along with veteran Guhan Shetty from the Spartan off-road Motorsport Club will be taking part in the fifth edition of RFC India, the toughest off-road motorsport event. The competition will be held between 41 teams from July 21 to 28 in Goa. Top Indian driver will get an automatic free entry to the TFC Mother Event, to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.
