Argentina target Guardiola

The biggest transfer deal of the year may not be for a player - but for a manager. According to reports in Spain, Argentina want to appoint Pep Guardiola as their next head coach.

Following their World Cup exit in the round of 16 Argentina are scouting for a replacement for current coach Jorge Sampaoli and Spanish publication AS reports that Manchester City manager Guardiola has been identified as a top target.

Guardiola has only recently signed a new deal with Premier League champions City but the Argentine Football Association (AFA) is “willing to break the bank” for him. The AFA is preparing a £9m-a-year deal to tempt the Spaniard from the Etihad Stadium. (Manchester Evening News via AS)

Gonzalo Higuain: Juventus to Chelsea

The Daily Mail says that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Juventus to sign striker Gonzalo Higuain for £53m. The Blues are set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new boss and are “pressing ahead” with his targets. However, Sky Sports reports that Higuain’s agent has denied that the Argentina international is leaving Juventus or that talks have taken place with Chelsea.

Xherdan Shaqiri: Stoke City to Manchester United

Switzerland World Cup star Xherdan Shaqiri is wanted by Manchester United. The forward is available for a cut-price £12m after Stoke’s relegation and his performances in Russia have caught the eye of United boss Jose Mourinho. Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the Swiss playmaker. (The Sun)

United eye Juventus duo

The Daily Mirror says that Manchester United are keen on Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic. Croatian Mandzukic could move to Old Trafford as part of a swap deal that would see full-back Matteo Darmian move to Turin. According to the Daily Star Juventus defender Alex Sandro could also be on his way to United after reportedly agreeing terms over a £53m move.

Yerry Mina: Barcelona to Everton

Colombia’s giant centre-half Yerry Mina, who scored against England in the World Cup, is a target for Everton. The Barcelona defender has also been linked with Everton’s rivals Liverpool. (Liverpool Echo)

Wilshere in talks with West Ham

Jack Wilshere has been in talks with West Ham United. The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the weekend. Turkish club Fenerbahce are also interested in the 26-year-old. (Sky Sports)

Banega to stay at Sevilla

According to reports in Spain, Ever Banega will turn down a move to Arsenal and remain at Sevilla. The Argentina midfielder reportedly has a £17.6m release clause in his Sevilla contract. (Metro)
