Shakti Kendra meeting to be Amit Shah’s top priority

A meeting with over 15,000 office-bearers of Shakti Kendra, who are micro-level election managers of the BJP, will be the key programme of the party’s national president, Amit Shah.

CHENNAI: A meeting with over 15,000 office-bearers of Shakti Kendra, who are micro-level election managers of the BJP, will be the key programme of the party’s national president, Amit Shah, visiting Chennai on July 9.

The exercise is aimed at toning up the party to face the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Party sources said the meeting would be conducted like a public event at VGP Golden Beach. Amit Shah is giving importance to these micro-level election managers because of their  success in Karnataka recently.  Earlier, this system had worked out in a few other States also. Every member of the kendra will take care of a minimum number of voters.  After the visit of Amit Shah to Chennai, the micro-level election managers would make it a point to meet the people regularly.

On July 9, Amit Shah is arriving here at 10 am and will reach VGP Golden Beach around 11 am. From then on, he will have a series of meetings with the rank-and-file of the party till 10 pm.  After taking rest, Amit Shah will leave Chennai on July 10.   

During the visit, Amit Shah will meet some VIPs and hand over to them the booklet containing the achievements of the Modi government during the past four years.  
Party sources said the names of the VIPs would be revealed only at the last minute.
