Man found driving stolen car, arrested

NOIDA: A man was arrested for allegedly driving a stolen car with doctored registration number in Noida Sector 17 on Tuesday morning. The accused, identified as Daya Ram a resident of Sector 115.

Traffic sub-inspector Avinash Saini said that during a routine checking drive they stopped a white Maruti Suzuki Eeco since the driver was not wearing a seatbelt near Atta Peer. “When asked to show the vehicle’s registration certificate the driver failed to produce them. The cops checked the car’s number – UP22AF2749 - through e-challan app which showed the number was allotted to a Hero Splendor motorcycle,” he said.

The suspect could not clarify how he got the car. “An FIR was registered against the accused. He was arrested and sent to judicial custody after being produced in court,” said senior sub-inspector S B Singh, Sector 20 .
