Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga): The Punjab Government has issued notification for Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis (PS) and Zila Parishads (ZP). Election for ZP and PS will be conducted on September 10 and for gram panchayats on September 30. For the election schedule, further notification will be issued by the Punjab State Election Commission, soon. Talking to Daily Post, the official source of the Commission told that code of conduct will come into force after the issuing of notification by the Commission.At present there are 13,028 Panchayats, 148 block Samities and 22 Zila Parishad in the state. 267 new panchayats have been constituted, while 15 have been merged. The term of Gram Panchayats will be due in August month, while Zila Parishad and Block Samitis term will be ended on July 9. Panchayat and rural development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa told that the elections will be conducted under 50 percent reservation to women after increasing reservation from 33 per cent as it was the promise of the Congress in its manifesto and women reservation will be included with SC/BC and general women reservation. Schedule for election will be issued by the State election Commission, after the publication of voter lists.
