Kathak dancer Alpana Vajpayee teaches aspirants

The Kathak dance aspirants are carried out their final rehearsals for the performance to be held on Thursday. Many students aspiring to learn Kathak, a form of classical dance learnt the dance form by a noted Kathak dancer Alpana Vajpayee.

A noted and distinguished Kathak performer Alpana trained the participants of age 6 to 35 years and made them learn the basic steps of Kathak. She has been trained in traditional ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ he taught teaching the same methods to the participants. The workshop is organized at Baithak The Art House.

As many as 40 participants are a part of the workshop. The participants learnt different mudras of this particular form of classical dance. At the workshop the students were taught about the basics of the classical dance and they learnt the Kathak mudras.

The participants learnt the Stuti on Guru Vishnu, Guru Brahma. Besides, they also learnt the Torde, Paran, Bol, Hastak, Tukde and Stuti.  Alpana Vajpayee said that the main motive of this 15 day dance workshop was to enhance the skill of classical dance among dance aspirants and also the facial and body expressions. Besides, the participants also learnt the rhythmic understanding, ability to extemporize with speedy rhythms and preserving pure Kathak classical style and matching the footwork with live playing instruments on stage.

She also said that on Wednesday, the participants practiced for a performance to be held on Thursday. The participants also learnt the new trends in Kathak which they will perform on the day of event.
