Vadodara: Rural police ordered an inquiry after a video showing two unidentified men collecting money from truck drivers near the toll plaza on National Highway 48 at Karjan went viral on social media a couple of days ago.
The video is believed to have been secretly shot by a truck driver from Himachal Pradesh. The duo is standing beside a Vadodara rural police vehicle with a receipt book.

“I have ordered an inquiry under the deputy superintendent of police (Dabhoi division). However, nobody has come forward with a complaint. If somebody makes a complaint, we can ascertain the facts like the time and place of the video,” said Saurabh Tolumbia, superintendent of police, Vadodara (rural).

In the video, two men dressed in civil clothes are seen writing in a receipt book. When the driver asks why they are giving him a challan, the man does not answer. Later, when the driver asks if things can be settled without a receipt, the man demands Rs 12,000 for two trucks.

After a bargain is struck, they settle at Rs 2,000. When the driver gets back to his cabin, he says the police demanded money for no reason near a toll plaza in Vadodara.
