Former MLA Bhayyasaheb Thakur passes away

Amravati: Veteran leader of Amravati district Congress and former MLA Bhayyasaheb Thakur died of kidney ailment at the age of 71 at Somayya Hospital in Mumbai in the wee hours of Thursday. He was the father of Teosa MLA Yashomati Thakur.
He was admitted to Somayya Hospital for the treatment of kidney ailment and was also operated upon. However, his health kept deteriorating after the operation, and he breathed his last around 1.00 am, said family sources.

Thakur is survived by wife Pushpamala Thakur, daughters Yashomati and Sanyogita. Family sources said his dead body would be brought to his Ganediwal Layout residence here by Thursday evening. The funeral would take place on Friday at 11.30am at Siddhi-Bandi, Mozari.

Starting his political career with the Youth Congress in 1978, Bhayyasaheb represented the Old Chandur Railway constituency, and later Teosa constituency in the state assembly. He had close relations with the then Congress leaders like Vasantdada Patil, AR Antulay, Nasikrao Tirpude, Ramrao Adik and others. He was known as the 1978 loyalist in Congress. Born in Mozari and influenced by Sant Tukdoji Maharaj, Bhayyasaheb remained in politics throughout his life, winning many friends for himself.
