NEW DELHI: Equity markets failed to build upon the gains it made on Wednesday as benchmark indices
Sensex and
Nifty closed in the red.
30-share BSE Sensex lost 70.85 points to close at 35,574.55 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty too slipped below key psychological mark of 10,750, losing 0.20 per cent.
The Street traded rangebound on Thursday, in the absence of any trigger. Investors may be in for some volatility on Friday with the US's tariffs on Chinese imports expected to kick in.
Among sectoral sub-indices, Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma lost 1.50 per cent each while Nifty IT too lost more than a per cent.
Yes Bank, ITC,
Bajaj Auto and
Asian Paints gained the most during the day.
