CHENNAI: Three doctors of Service Doctors and Post Graduates Association (SDPGA) continued fast for the second day demanding pay parity with Central Government doctors and also 50 per cent reservation for service doctors in Post Graduate courses, at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on Wednesday.

Speaking to Express Dr A Ramalingam, organising secretary, SDPGA said the entry level salary for state government doctors and central government doctors is same, but in central government the promotions are quicker, so the increase in salary. But, in the state government the promotions are delayed at least by over 10 years.

The government has also not implemented dynamic assured career progression under which promotions are based on vacancies and not on years of completion of service. The doctors also demanded 50 per cent reservation for service doctors in post graduate courses.
