PUNE: A 28-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for trying to
kidnap the minor daughter of a prominent hotelier to avenge job loss.
The
Deccan Gymkhana police identified the fired waiter-cum-delivery boy as Kiran Mahadev Kamble of Shivajinagar. He was arrested after the hotelier (40) from FC Road lodged a complaint against him.
The complainant runs a hotel on FC Road, where Kamble was employed for seven years.
Assistant police inspector (API) Shilpa Lambe said Kamble had borrowed money from the hotelier on many occasions, citing different family problems. Recently, he refused to deliver food parcels, prompting the hotelier to remove him from service.
When the hotelier’s daughter went for her private coaching class on Ghole Road on Wednesday, Kamble surfaced there. “The girl knew that he worked with the hotel. He asked her to come out of the classroom. When she did, Kamble threatened and dragged her to his motorcycle,” Lambe said.
The API said, “Kamble wanted to take the girl to Solapur. Before he could start his bike, the girl’s mother reached the spot to deliver tiffin to her. Suspecting Kamble’s intentions, the mother raised an alarm, following which passers-by and shopkeepers apprehended Kamble and handed him over to police.”
Lambe said, “Kamble wanted to teach the hotelier a lesson.”
