Sir — Mumbai often finds itself at crossroads whenever heavy rainfall strikes the city. This time, heavy rainfall led to the collapse of a footover bridge and crippled rail services across the city.

It is unfortunate that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has been unable effectively deal with incidents like these that demand adequate attention and preparedness. In this context, the corporation as well as the Maharashtra Government must come up with a definite and concrete plan to deal with such emergencies.
