Actor and YSRCP MLA representing Nagari R.K. Roja on Wednesday sprang a surprise by sharing dais with Minister for Industries N. Amaranatha Reddy and family members of her arch rival Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, at the inauguration of new blocks at the Government Hospital in Puttur.
An air of suspense gripped the hospital zone at noon, expecting the arrival of Ms. Roja to preside over the inaugural function.
As MLC Gali Saraswathi and her son Bhanu Prakash were present, their supporters raised slogans in favour of the Gali family.
Much to the surprise of all, Ms. Roja arrived and exchanged pleasantries with one and all, besides greeting Mr. Amarnatha Reddy with a bouquet.
Refrains from
targeting TDP
After inauguration of the new hospital blocks built at a cost of ₹1.76 crore, the Minister said that Ms. Roja had done her best to develop the hospital in Puttur.
The Minister said he would strive to increase the bed strength from 30 to 50 in the near future.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Roja said she always felt that it was her responsibility to work for the development of the Puttur hospital.
Interestingly, Ms. Roja refrained from criticising the TDP government.
As the programme was about to conclude, the supporters of the Gali family raised slogans hailing leadership of Mr. Bhanu Prakash. The YSRCP cadre and supporters of Ms. Roja raised counter slogans in favour of the MLA.
However, Mr. Amaranatha Reddy prompted the TDP cadre to keep calm as the inauguration of the hospital blocks should not be linked with politics.
The Minister and the MLA departed after exchanging pleasantries again.
Senior TDP cadre present at the venue observed that the development only brought embarrassment to the family members of Muddukrishnama Naidu.
At a time when the family was making desperate efforts to seek party ticket from Nagari, the Minister’s pat for Ms. Roja would only send wrong signals to the party workers, they observed.
