Teams from the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) seized 191 kg ganja from a luxury sedan at Chengalpattu, and 238 boxes of alprazolam tablets and 97 bottles of codeine syrup from the manager of a medical shop in Theni.

According to a press release from the bureau, two men, identified as Ganesan (40) and Raja (40) had bought the ganja from Andhra Pradesh, and were taking it to their native, Theni.
It was concealed in 95 packets and was taken on a Skoda car when they were nabbed. The duo reportedly confessed that it was being taken to Theni for delivery.
In the second operation that took place in Theni, the Narcotic Control Bureau team seized 1,07,100 alrazolam tablets in 238 boxes and 97 bottles of Codeine (K-COD) syrup from the possession of one Perumal (40), the manager of Siva Sri medical shop in Theni, on Tuesday. He was allegedly selling the drugs – which figure in the controlled list – in Theni.
The offenders were booked under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, NCB zonal director Bruno A said in a statement. The team has started an investigation.
