14 C’garh distts insurgency infested: Min

Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra informed Chhattisgarh Assembly on Wednesday that a total of 14 districts have been identified as insurgency infested in the State.

In a written reply to Congress member Dewti Karma, the Minister informed that the districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Dantewada, Bastar, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Gariaband, Balrampur and Kabeerdham had been identified as insurgency infested.

 The parameters followed to describe a district as insurgency infested are- Maoist incidents during the last five years, the efforts by Maoists organisations to strengthen their presence in various districts, the fire power, activities and presence of Dalams, organisations supporting Maoists through logistics  and efforts made by police and administration to curb Maoist activities.
