Youth Congress activists and police personnel had a scuffle here on Wednesday as the former broke a barricade and tried to move towards the Naveen Niwas to gherao it in protest against alleged failure of the State Government in resolving farmers’ issues and providing employment to youths.

The activists led by Youth Congress working president Loknath Moharathy took out a bike rally named “Yuva Adhikaar Samavesh” and reached the Raj Mahal where they were intercepted by police. A scuffle erupted between them as the activists tried to move forward by breaking the police barricade.

Congress leader Sangram Jena alleged that both the Centre and the State have failed to provide employment to the youths of Odisha.

“Neither the Centre nor the State government has been able to provide jobs to youths. While youths of Odisha are going outside the State to work in factories, most of the jobs in Odisha have been given to outsiders,” Jena said.

The rally was attended by OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik, MLA Chiranjib Biswal, Youth Congress national president Keshav Jadhav and vice-president BV Srinivas.

During the rally, the members raised slogans against the Centre and urged everyone to fight against injustice.
