Pitching for abolishing immigration and customs enforcement from the Statue of Liberty's pedestal on Independence Day of the United States, protesters hanged a banner of their demands and scaled the statue’s base. Several people have been arrested in this connection. National Park Service spokesman Jerry Willis informed that a protester was seen at the base beneath the statue's foot around 4 p.m. Wednesday. The police officials were atop the base, and urged the man to go down. It's unclear whether the climb is related to the earlier banner demonstration.
