RAJKOT: A 60-year-old man was shot dead in Bhader village of Dhoraji taluka in
Rajkot district on Wednesday night by seven assailants who wanted to avenge the killing of a man on June 20. After killing Jivan Sangani, assailants dumped his body at Nandarkhi village of Vanthli taluka in
Junagadh district.
On the complaint lodged by Jivan’s elder brother Hari, police booked Jusab Allahrakha Saangh, a history-sheeter involved in 40 crimes ranging from murder, robbery to firing and extortion as well as Amin, Bhavsangh Vaghela, Jayubha Vaghela, Raghuvirsinh Vaghela, Prithvisinh Vaghela and Digubha Vaghela.
“According to Hari, while he and Jivan were returning home from the farm, they were waylaid by the accused who had come in an SUV. The accused abducted Jivan in the SUV and while driving, shot a bullet in his head. They then dumped his body at Nandarkhi village,” said K K Gohil,
Patanvav police station sub-inspector.
The accused killed Jivan to avenge the killing of Jusab’s uncle Musa in which Jivan’s second brother Jayanti was the main accused. Musa (55) was bludgeoned to death in Bhader village of Dhoraji taluka in Rajkot district on June 20, over a land dispute with Jayanti and his son Vallabh.
Musa’s nephew Jusab and others then decided to avenge this murder. On July 1, Hussein (37), Saleem (25) and Amad (45), started off in their car to kill someone from the Sangani family. However, police stopped their SUV for checking on Junagadh-Dhoraji Road and found firearms, four live cartridges and a knife.
“The trio told police that they were going to commit a robbery. However, probe revealed that they were on their way to kill one of the members of the Sangani family,” said
Junagadh special operation group inspector J M Vala.
