597 Govt school teachers to be re-deputed

Following merger and downgrading of schools in the East Singhbhum district, the district education department has zeroed on 597 government school teachers who will be re-deputed according to need in schools. About 393 have been merged in this exercise.

The district superintendent of education (DSE), East Singhbhum Banke Bihari Singh said that the department is working to meet the challenge associated with lack of teachers. They have identified surplus teachers will work according to the state government guidelines for posting. The rationalisation process will be over in two weeks. There are about 3200 teachers in the East Singhbhum district.

“We want to ensure that the surplus teachers are relocated for better system. We have made a list of the teachers who have been identified and will be placed accordingly. The whole merger and process of downgradation of schools was aimed at providing better quality education to students. We are confident that our move will pave way for better education scenario in the district,” said Singh.

The department would also consider para teachers and government teachers while the deputation. The rationalisation came after merging and downgrading 393 schools in the district that took place between February and June. In the state, a total of 3528 schools were merged.

The Jharkhand Prathamik Shikshak Sangh, an association of government school teachers said that they would ensure that the rationalisation is done as per the state guidelines or else they shall protest against the decision.

An official of Sangh said that most of the Government schools in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district are running still without the headmasters, teachers, and teaching work is being disrupted. He informed that in East Singhbhum alone there are 58 Rajkiyakrit high schools, 11 of which have plus two.

Out of these 47 high schools have just eight full-time headmasters, the rest of the work being carried out in-charges.

The appointment of the headmasters has been delayed over the years by the government and education department. He urged the Chief Minister Raghubar Das to soon overcome the shortage of teachers in government schools in East Singhbhum. 

He said that state of education should be improved and educational activities in the schools of the district must be brought on the track.
