The BEM Higher Secondary School at Thalassery has suspended three Plus Two students on the charge of ragging a Plus One student.
School authorities said Plus One student, a resident of Punnol near Thalassery, was manhandled by seniors on Tuesday after he disobeyed their order that the junior students should wear slippers and not shoes. When he came to school wearing shoes, the seniors attacked him, the school authorities said. He was then taken to General Hospital at Thalassery.
They said an inquiry had been initiated to identify those involved in ragging. The three who were suspended had directly attacked the junior, they said. The parents of the victim lodged a complaint with the school, which handed it over to the police.
As the accused are juveniles, the police said they would give a report to the juvenile court in this regard for further action.
