GORAKHPUR: Cantonment police lodged a case of cheating against
Dr Kafeel Khan's elder brother, Adeel Ahmad Khan and his associate Mohammad Faizan on Monday night. Both accused had opened a bank account using fake driving licence and fake photograph and made transactions of Rs 2 crore.
One Muzaffar Alam, a resident of Shekhpur under Rajghat police station, lodged a complaint to SSP Shalabh Mathur stating that in the year 2009, Adeel, a resident of Basantpur, and his associate Faizan opened a bank account in
Union Bank at Cinema Road by using fake documents.
CO Kotwali Atul Chaube investigated the matter and found that the driving licence used as identity proof belonged to Mohammad Zaheer.
"During the probe, CO Kotwali found the complaint true as the bank account was opened in the name of Mohammad Faizan but the photograph of Muzaffar Alam had been used. The driving licence used was also fake. The details of transactions of Rs 2 crore in the account are being investigated," Mathur said.
However, Adeel accused police of hatching a plan to frame him in a fake case, in a press conference on Monday.
