Delhi power struggle: Constitution is boss, says BJP

more-in

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that the Supreme Court had delivered a “categorical, logical, firm judgment” that had established the Constitution as “the boss of Delhi”.

He added that the judgment, which emphasised the need for cooperation between the elected government and the L-G, would serve as a warning to the Kejriwal government to work within the framework of the Constitution.

Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said that now that the Supreme Court had made it clear what the powers of the elected government were, the AAP government should have no excuse not to carry out development works.

In a statement, the Delhi State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, which, it said, had brought the focus on the fact that the L-G had been working on the orders of the Modi government.
