Opposition AINRC Legislator Ashok Anand has charged the Puducherry Government with adopting a slack approach in procuring MBBS seats to students of Puducherry under the government quota in private medical colleges in the Union Territory.

Making a statement in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Anand said the number of seats under the government quota had now come down.

He said that from 400 seats under government quota, the number of seats had now come down to 147.

‘Issue an order’

The government should issue an order to ensure that about 300 seats were available under the government quota to students from Puducherry.

To this, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said that the government would move the court and ensure that there was no setback to students from Puducherry in the availability of seats.
