East Coast Railway has not accorded permission to the TDP to stage a ‘deeksha’ near the exit gate of the Railway Station towards Gnanapuram.
The ‘deeksha’ is being held on Wednesday led by MLAs, MLCs, MPs and other senior leaders of the party demanding the formation of a new railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters.
Based on the plans, MLA (East) Vasupalli Ganesh under whose constituency comes the Railway Station had written to Divisional Railway Manager of East Coast Railway Mukul Saran Mathur for permission to hold the ‘deeksha’.
Responding to the letter, the DRM on Wednesday has not accorded the permission stating that it was a public place and people will be inconvenienced.
Now the ‘deeksha’ that is said to be attended by over 20,000 TDP workers will be held on the road near the station on the Gnanapuram side.
Speaking to The Hindu Anakapalle MP Anakapalle MP M. Srinivasa Rao said, though we have not been given the permission by the Railways we are going ahead with our plans, but with a slight shift in the venue. It will now be held at the Convent Junction.
However, it is learnt that the police has given the permission.
Speaking to mediapersons, Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa, who reviwed arrangements for the deeksha, said ‘Dharma porata deeksha’ and Kadapa ukku deeksha received support from people.
He said party leaders from north Andhra will attend the deeksha for Railway zone and hoped that it would evoke good response from people.
